My hair is soo curly its crazy, and even when i straighten it, the ends are so dry and i hate it. I HAFTA straighten it every single day if I dont want to look like a clown. I get made fun of all the time and I hate it. Should I just get a straightening cream? No shampoos and conditioners work and I just HATE MY HAIR! Im caucasian but my hair is still curly beyond belief and its pretty when its wet, but because its so curly it makes it look so short and puffy. HELP.

my sister is exactly the same way..but she got her hair relaxed two years ago and it really looks a lot better. and she can straighten it a whole lot easier now. i say get it relaxed!

Definitley buy a relaxer! Your hair sounds out of control, if you have tried everything else, that is the way to go. Try using this product along with straightening. It may work!

I don't think white people should ever relax their hair because it's just not the right consistency to withstand the chemicals. Have you thought about Japanese Straightener? I think it costs about $180 but it lasts for about 6 months. Your hair has to be its natural color to do this though, I think.

You are drying out your hair by stripping it of its own natural oils every time you shampoo - normally people replace these oils with conditioners etc., but chances are if you let your hair recover it will do the job very nicely on its own!

I've got curly hair (not like yours though!!) and it is MUCH nicer now than when I was shampooing all the time. It is now manageable, never frizzy, soft, shiny and holds any style.

I'd at least try this before forking out for a product that probably won't work and will probably damage your hair beyond repair. It doesn't sound as if you have a lot to lose, honey!

The best advice I was ever given is to work WITH your hair, not against it. It will thank you for it!

I think I am a lot like you. Number one grow it out. In the mean time sqeeze a little gel and scrunch. If you like the wet look do not blow dry. If you do not dry. Do this the night before.

Curly hair is Sexy, Really. If your hair is that hard for you to manage, go to the salon and have them give you a new style that is easy for you to manage. They will help you. By the time they are done, you'll love your hair. Give it a shot, you have nothing to loose. Good Luck.

I have curly hair too and I used to straighten everyday. However, I would get split ends in weeks because it would take me 40 min. to straighten my hair the night before and then 20 to 30 the next day. I was so sick of having to get my hair cut so now I use products that make my curly hair look good. I use serums, and sunsilk in the green cream to get rid frizz. Now I am growing my hair longer because I think long curls look great. Hope this helps :]

Hey,i went to the hair dressers and got my hair permently straightened it stays in for about 5months and drys straight after the showa/bath its also alott easier to straighten!

SAME HERE...My hair is so curly that it tangled VARY easily...but you should go with the relaxer because if you straighten your hair ALL the time then it could really mess up you curly hair and your hair will brake off but what i do with my hair is use relaxers and then like every once in a while ill straighten it for like a week or 2.

relaxers are strictly aim for black people so it will mess up every 1 eles heair but if ur white ot hispanic or som eother race or mixed get a straightning perm those are made especially for people who dont have ethnic hair

why don't you try magic straight/ japanese perm? its a bit costly, but its way better than straightening your hair every day and it stays for about a year and maybe longer if you take care of it.

Curls are wonderful. Get a good hair trim, have them thin it out a little. Use a relaxing moisturizer. Let it grow, let it hang. Drop all other chemical practices. Natural is beautiful.

Instead of straightening, why don't you use a moisterizing perm solution to just relax the curl a bit? Lye straighteners will FRY your hair.

You can have a hairdresser do it or do it yourself. The perms hairdressers get are stronger, but one from the store will relax it a bit. All you'd want to do is section off your hair into 6 sections, and comb your hair straight the solution.

It can be difficult if you've never done it before, so you may want to get it done by a professional so you can watch if you want to try it yourself.

Also, you should go to Kmart or walmart and look for Queene Helene's Cholesteral in a tub. Smear that stuff on after your perm. Just wet your hair and put the stuff on - the more the better. After that, put a shower cap on your head and let it sink in for about 20 mins. Rinse well, don't shampoo. Your hair will be silky beyond belief.

obviously a relaxer cause if you straighten your hair for like ever, your hair will get damaged and will fry your allready puffy hair making your hair fragile and brittle-meaning you will have more spilt ends!

I have the same problem - my hair is both wavy AND curly and I am a white woman. I had long hair (past my shoulders) which I loved but it was so difficult to maintain. I got it cut short to just below my ears but the trick is that now it's all one length and much easier to style. People with curly hair should not get layers because layers add volume which you don't need. It took some getting used to but now all I have to do after I wash my hair is put a little gel in it and run my fingers through my hair and I will have calm, pretty curly hair for the rest of the day. Only use a small amount about the size of a quarter and rub it in your hands first before applying to your hair.

If you want to try a relaxer go to a salon and have it done. They will make sure that your hair doesn't get overly dry from the process.

I went to a salon for several years to have my hair professionally straightened. It did look great and no upkeep whatsoever. One time I was in the chair getting my treatment, there was a guy in the next chair to me under a cap getting his hair "permed". The back door was open. "Permed!" I said, "Why would anyone want to get a perm?" The barber said, "See that corvette out back? That's mine, thanks to you guys !"

I realized that we should be happy with what we got ! It could always be worse. Toupees, anyone? (And besides, allot of people think bald is sexy too !
