How to Prevent Hair from Curling After Straightening?

I've tried practically everything, but whatever I do, my hair always curls up to its natural state after I spend at least 10-15 minutes flat-ironing it. I've also noticed that this usually occurs doing cold weather. Any tips or techniques I could use to prevent this from happening?

I've got extremely curly hair and conditioner is always key in weighing it down. If you've already got that going for you and your hair is not of the greasy persuasion, sometimes after I straighten it I put a bit of condition or lotion in my hands and run it through -- lightly! Another thing to make sure is that when you straighten, your hair is completely dry. And finally, dryer sheets are amazing at controlling frizzies!

It could also be your straightener. I find that if I use certain straighteners my hair maintains it's straightness through rain and snow no matter what! I suggest the T3 or the Chi if you want to try those out. Good luck!

have you ever used perm chemicals to straighten your hair. I had a friend with super naturally curly hair, she used to do it, worked pretty good.

Why is it that us straight haired girls wish we had the body of curly haired girls and you curly heads wish you had ours. Mine won't hold curls for more than 30 min with a curling iron, even if I slept in sponge rollers all night it wont last but a few hours. my hair is fine that I have to be careful with styling products because they weigh it down and it will make the curl fall out faster

If your straightener has different levels of temperature, I suggest going to the next one, so that way your hair will stay straight longer. I usually add a little gel to it, spread some in your hands, not too much since you dont want your hair to be hard you just want to control it, and apply from the middle of your hair down, since that is where the curls usually begin. I also recommend curling just the edges, this will keep the rest of the hair straight longer, plus it looks nicer :) works for me, hope it helps!
