Why do I see a lot of Black women weaving and/or straightening their hair?

What century are "you" living in? There are women of all races weaving and/or straightening there hair. Especially most celebrities like Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Brittney Spears, Jessica Simpson and so on. I mean havent you seen America Next Top Model they put weave in most of those girl's hair. Some women feel they look better with straight hair and some women prefer to perm their hair to make it curlier. It is all about preference.

You don't see white girls straightening their hair and wearing weaves? Desperate to make a topic I see....

And I DID read your question. What do you consider alot? 95%, 75%,1% I mean....make your question more clear then you won't get the answers you're getting. Alot is subjective so why don't you try again. Okay??

Well I relax my hair because I like the way it looks. I'm tired of all that crap saying that us black women are trying to look white. Hair is easier to mannage (to me) when straight, and I have a lot more styles to choose from. I also occasionally braid my hair.

Because they can, so they do.

Why do I see a lot of Black women weaving and/or straightening their hair?

i do it because it's my choice not because i want to be like someone else or not claim my own I'm beautiful with long short kinky or straight hair it's depends on the mood and the style

Chiquita, Ralph Kramden, and Assault are all the same person. Let me add gangsta to the list.

Why do I see a lot of Black women weaving and/or straightening their hair?

I do neither. I do not wear weaves or straighten my hair. Well, I do, because my hair is naturally wavy and when it gets wet, I get big curls. Most women straighten their hair. If a woman has curly hair, she use flat irons. Wearing your hair in different styles does not take away from who you are.

thats sad that you have to use a black guys avatar, your even making your race look bad man. So stop all this racism it aint go solve anything.

Ask your momma

Why do I see a lot of Black women weaving and/or straightening their hair?

there are other races that do things to their hair and bodies to make them happy. some women put perms in their hair to get curls, or get tans to get darker skin. if getting our hair straightened is what makes us happy, then so be it.

And who made you judge and jury to tell people what to do when God gave us all the power of will to do what we want? Only people who have a life concentrate on their own lives and not on others. Another thing, why don't you stick to an avatar of the color you were born with? You're certainly not a Black person!

Come on now, you live in the U.S. You know the answer. Conformity to the images presented. To get ahead, fit in, be considered "beautiful," straight and flowing is the way to go.

I've gone through many hairstyles in my life, and so I don't down anyone. I've not got into weaves or wigs because I've been blessed with a full head of hair. I've had locs for over two years now and wonder why I didn't do it sooner. It was and is a spiritual expression for me- acceptance and transformation, returning to my ethnic roots and heritage.

I work in a professional office and since my locs are medium length-long, I can put them in a bun, ponytail, add hair accessories like pins or tie them in a scarf if I so choose.

You know, this whole straight hair thing is popular with white girls too. That's why flat irons and blow drying is so popular with them. They work hard to keep their hair straight. It's not a black thing. Even Hispanics and Asians straighten their hair. And as for Black women not staying natural, they would if more people like you expressed how natural hair was better. There are so many ignorant black people in this world criticizing their natural hair. But, I do agree with your question.

Why do I see a lot of Black women weaving and/or straightening their hair?

I guess some feel inferior to the beautiful White women like Paris Hilton on TV, they need to just accept that they well never have naturally straight hair.
