Can anyone recommend a good flat iron for straightening ethnic hair?

I recommend purchasing a thick one because you have more work to do if you get the small one. My little sister is mixed w/black and we straighten her hair with the white Revlon one, it works perfect. We once spent over $100 dollars on an Ionic one and it was so not worth it, I live by my Revlon!!!

I recomened the Paul Mitchell straightener. It is pretty pricy, but it works super good and it will last you a very long time.

i recomend the CHI it works really good. i tried six different hair straightner and it use to take more than 30 mins to straighten my hair but with the CHI i can do it in 15 mins =]

I would go with a ghd, they sell them in salons, or have your hairstylist get one at a beauty supply store. The chi is good to, but I have recently heard they are seeming to break soon after the warranty. If you can't afford either of these, try a good 50 dollar iron...

As a stylist, I have used a lot of flat irons, including Sedu, HAI, Infrashine, Chi, Paul Mitchell, Solia, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss GHD, T3, Kenta etc.

In terms of performance:

The best ones are: Sedu, Kenta, Solia, Infrashine, GHD. These are top of the line professional brands

Above average: CHI, HAI, Paul Mitchell,

Average: T3, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss

Worst: Conair, Vidal Sassoon, Revlon, Bed Head etc. These are cheap consumer brands that you will find in drugstore. If you care about your hair, do NOT buy them.
