What are the pros and cons to chemicly straightening your hair??

Make sure you go to someone that is recommended by someone who has already had it done. A friend of mine had it done by someone that burnt her scalped and left her hair feeling like jelly.

Other than that it should be ok. THe worst part is is that it will keep growing out.

It can lead to patterned baldness I heard.

The only pro is that blowdrying takes less time.

I do not ever advise on straightening as it is a severely damaging process. Most major hair product manufacturers (Loreal, Wella etc) have products which are milder than straighteners but which only relax the curl. You are much better off with one of these.

If you do decide to have it done then make sure it is at a reputable salon.

What are the pros and cons to chemicly straightening your hair??

I have very naturally curly hair and have tried over the years to use chemical straighteners. Frankly, I have found no advantage at all. Either the straighteners do a lot of damage (even if done by a reputable salon) or don't last very long (about a week or so on my hair). While it takes more time, it is easier for me, and better for my hair, to straighten with a blow dryer and a good straightening iron.
