Try a CHI flat iron. You can purchase one at Trade Secret for about $120. If you are on more of a cheaper budget, go to Sally Beauty Supply and get a 1 inch flat iron. Try Helen of Troy Ceramic (Yellow box), Jilbere Titanium Tools 1 inch flat iron, or a Jilbere Tourmaline Flat iron. Always use either a heat protection spray or a shine serum before using heat. This will not only protect the hair, but will also cut down on frizz, flyawys, and keep the hair smoother and silkier and shinier. Some good ones to try are Beyond The Zone Smooth shot (Purple bottle with yellow top) or BioShine Silk Therapy-these are the serums. Try Beyond the Zone Heat protection spray in the orange bottle. Ceramic irons are the best for straightening hair. They don't dry it out like the others because the ceramic absorbs moisture instead of frying it like the other ones do. They do cost more though, but it's worth it if you're worried about your hair. My friend has hair so curly it goes down past her shoulders when straighted, but is a helmet hairdo that's only 2 inches or so from her head after she washes it. She straightens her hair every morning, which caused massive damage because she was pretty much frying it.

i use a regular chi iron with 1" plates and alterna straightening balm for straight styles and alterna texturizing glaze for fun flipped out or under or curled styles. with that iron you can do anything for example they make the best spiral curls. good luck be creative!! ps alterna is the best and always use styling products before you iron

Do not waste your money on a cheap flat iron. The only one worth buying is a Chi. That thing would straighten anything. You should also buy the complete line of Matrix Sleek Systems. It smells great and leaves your hair silky shiny. Check for the Chi on ebay, sometimes they have a great deal. Good Luck
