You can always use a curling iron, use a very large one. I have curly hair also and this is what i use. It works great and doesnt dammage your hair.

You're gonna have to use a really really good ceramic straight iron. The Chi iron is my personal favorite, but the Hai is also good. Just don't use a cheap metal iron because they have hot spots that will scorch your hair. Also, never ever ever iron hair with no product in it. There are several hot iron sprays or thermal protectant products out on the market...for goodness sake use them! Your hair will get straighter and will be more protected!

I have curly hair and at one time i did the straightening thing,never again I let it grow there's so much out ther now for curly hair ,and i don't have to do anything but was it put some hair gel for curly hair and let it air dry and no fuss,if you straighten it and it starts growing it will look horrible at the top,

just go to a rebonding center..ur hair will look naturally staright..not the others that look frizz...hair rebond is the best..if you want permanent natural looking hair..

I also have curly hair, and I live for my straightening iron in the winter months (curly hair is more playful and summery) or when I am going somewhere where I want to have that look.

straighten irons work great! But as the above individual stated...do NOT do it without putting something in your hair. It will fry the hell out of it!

I know that people with curly hair tend to have drier hair...so I use a hair serum...here's the process I use when I'm going to straighten my hair:

1. Wash you hair in the evening and use a moisturizing conditioner.

2. Run a smoothing frizz controlling serum through your hair focusing on the ends.

3. Sleep on it...allowing it to air dry (hair dryers are extremely damaging to the hair and tend to make hair look dryer than it is)

4. In the morning, straighten.

Make sure that when you straighten, separate it off into sections. I usually let about 2 inches down at a time and straighten 2 inch sections of hair. You don't want to get too much hair otherwise it won't straighten right. And you don't want to get too little because you take the risk of overheating your hair.

If you need added volume in the morning, flip your head upside down and spritz a thin mist of volumizer on the roots ONLY. Then blow dry on cool for a few minutes. Then straighten.

Wash your hair and wait til its 90% dry, then use a flat ceramic straightener to straighten it and dry it all the way. $20-$40 at Target depending on the quality.
